Stephanie Curcio grew up in NYC where she studied harp with world famous teachers, Lucille Lawrence and Carlos Salzedo. She attended the High School of Music and Art, the Mannes School of Music, Marymount College, and Fordham University, from which she obtained various music and psychology degrees. Her first orchestral experience was with the NYC Symphony -- after only two years of study!.  Thereafter -- she was “hooked”.  Orchestral work became her first musical love. Since moving to NH in 1969, she has played with innumerable symphonies, choruses, theatres and ensembles throughout New England. 

Additionally, her extensive work as a teacher, publisher, arranger and composer for harp has gained both National and International acclaim.  Though currently retired she spent over 25 years as teacher of harp at the University of New Hampshire, Phillips Exeter and Phillips Andover Academies.  Her students have been finalists and winners in National competitions. She developed and chaired harp events at the NH Highland Games, has served as vice president of the AHS Boston Chapter, and some years ago helped to develop the national harp curriculum for ASTA via its liason with the AHS.   

In 2008, Stephanie Curcio was presented with an award from the NH House of Representatives recognizing,  “40 years of service and contribution to education and enhancement of the art of music in New Hampshire---”.  She currently teaches harp privately, own and runs Stephanie Curcio Publications, composes (often on commission), writes for harp magazines, and appears as guest lecturer and teacher at  various National venues.
